Black Eye

Oops, guess it's been a little bit since I've updated this blog! I thought I'd throw up some pics of Calvin's Black Eye. Marky wasn't being the best brother that day. Mis-aimed spoon....

I dressed him like a pirate the day it happened. I figured that we might as well match the tough guy look...

Haircut!

Oh My! Calvin was in desperate need of a hair cut, and way beyond a bang or ear trim that I've been trying to get away with so far. We did it all this time. He looks so different! His big flop of long hair is gone. :( But the plus side is that it seems to have regained it's funny standy-uppiness without all that weight! Sigh. He looks a lot more like Marky now too. He's getting too big too quickly. At least I get one more baby (most likely)!

Looks like Brother needs his turn at the clippers too!

Growing up quickly!

Nick wanted me to add that Calvin has turned into a full fledged trouble maker. Last night at dinner he decided he was done eating his eggs, and very obviously threw all the left overs on the floor. Add that to his constant desire to crawl into the bathroom to play with the potty, his toy stealing from brother, and his kitty attacks, and he's really turning into a character!

Mark is such a talker now! It's crazy the things that come out of his mouth. I'm having a hard time remembering any off the top of my head, but he is calling me Mommy now!

Spring Break-Long week...

Well, I had the last week off from work for spring break. It started out with Grama (Ramona)'s funeral. We're very sad to see her go, but know she's happy in heaven with Grandpa again. It was a nice service, and I'm sure she would've been happy to see all the little great-grandchildren that came.
On Monday Nick stayed home to help get some things done, and we ended up taking the boys to Monkey Joe's in Appleton for lunch and some entertainment. They had so much fun, even Calvin! We actually ran into our friends Amanda, Henry and Dougie there, but of course the older boys were too busy playing to notice each other, and the Mommies were too busy chasing to talk.
Sunday we finally picked up a swingset for the boys! It is a pretty basic one, but has a small trampoline on one side (we're hoping Mark will burn off some energy there) and a taller slide than most swingsets, which is good since Marky is our little daredevil and thinks our 3 ft slide is wimpy.
We rounded out the weekend with a visit to Auntie Amber and Uncle Joey. The boys made sure to torment a new set of cats while there. We had a great time though.
The pictures aren't from our swingset but from a fun day at the park a week or so ago. I know there is snow in the background, but it really was a warm day. We just had a lot of snow to get melted!
Happy Spring! It's really here, even if it doesn't always look like it!
We love you Grama! :*(

Weekend Fun

Well, a weekend away well spent with family, and we had a great time. The boys had a hoot at Grammy and Grandpa's house. For some reason, it took being there for Calvin to really get crawling. He's finally traveling distances with it, rather than inches. Much to Marky's dismay...especially when it comes to playing trains! (And making it harder for Mommy to type this!)

Seeing Katharine and Drew's new baby Eli was nice...he's such a doll. He slept the whole time, but it was still easy to see that he's a sweet heart!

Looks like we might be taking a vacation this summer. That will be nice, and our first real family vacation, and the first one in 5 years for Nick and I (Unless you count weekend trips or camping :)). We're already looking forward to it!

Oh, and Marky was warn out by the end of the day. ;)

According to Nick...

I need to update again.

Calvin is a bit happier-we're pretty sure he's just grumpy and snotty because of tooth #3 coming in. Yesterday he pulled up to mostly standing using his toy box, then got the rest of the way up using Marky's toy stroller. I guess we can finally count that. His balance is getting pretty good now, and can stand for long periods, many times just holding on with one hand.

Mark is still our nut. We go to a library playgroup, and lately he can't stand to sit still through it. He just wants to play with all of his friends there. We're thinking of moving up the fence project because frankly I'm a little scared to take him out to play this spring without it. I don't think we can wait until my brothers are coming to help in May. He's just getting too fast, and I'm just not that fast when I have a 25 lb baby on my hip!

Update on the Marky and Calvin

Okay, now that they're both asleep, time to update about the boys...

Mark is doing well. Him being able to eat dairy still amazes me daily. Today he downed a yogurt drink at lunch, then begged for some of my feta cheese. Um, okay!? I didn't like the stuff until I was 25, but my 2.5 year old loves it!

He's talking pretty well now, which is a relief. He can say just about anything, and at times sounds like a parrot. I don't deny needing to translate for others often still, but that's getting better too.

Mark has picked back up the strange habit of chewing things, so we're working on making that more appropriate. Sometimes I think I have a puppy!

He's still our monkey, and is usually sporting the bruises to prove it. We're planning to build a fenced play yard this spring to give him more outlets.

Calvin's doing well too. We're working on a cold again, and last time it ended up pneumonia, so cross your fingers we skip that this time!

We're saying he's officially crawling, but it doesn't get him far. He only takes tiny little shuffles, and never more than 4 at a time. He gets further with his silly sit-sprawl-sit hip-roll moves.

Calvin's finally eating more like a normal baby. Some purees now, and some finger foods. He still doesn't have a real fine pincer grasp/release, so finger foods only really work if they're green bean sized or larger.

He's finally slowing down in weight gain, down to a couple of ounces a week instead of the 1/2 a pound it was. I think solids are helping with that. Heaven knows this kid loves the boobie!

I think that's it. :)

Finally blogging...

Okay, I'm finally doing it. This will be our family blog. I figured that there were a few people (at least one Grammy for sure) who would appreciate updates like this fairly often, so here it is! Bear with me while I learn how to do all this, and try to do it between bouts of demanding toddler and crabby teething baby.
Cal just broke tooth #3 last night by the way!

I'll try to put a few pictures up fairly frequently. The ones I'm attaching today are the ones I meant to enter into the Regis and Kelly contest...of course I forgot!
